About this piece
A pure cow leather skin sold for people who make their own sheaths, rolls, straps and covers. It is the same leather we use for our own knife rolls, which is why we offer it separately — good knife leather is harder to source in small quantities than it should be.
Cow hide is the standard choice for sheath making because it tools and burnishes cleanly, wet-forms around a blade and holds that shape when dry, and stands up to years of belt carry. Use it for knife and axe sheaths, tool rolls, valet trays, belt loops, journal covers and repair patches.
Because this is a natural material, thickness, grain and colour vary slightly across the skin and between skins — marks from the animal's life are part of leather, not faults.
