About this piece
A 12-inch Damascus steel knife in the raindrop pattern, fitted with a dark Wenge wood handle. The raindrop is created by drilling and re-forging the billet so the layers dish into rounded rings, then etching the finished blade — it is one of the most recognisable Damascus patterns and one of the hardest to keep even across a blade.
Wenge is a dense African hardwood with a deep chocolate colour and a strong open grain. It is heavy enough to balance a 12-inch knife in the hand and hard enough to take knocks, and it darkens slightly as it ages. The handle is shaped, sanded and finished by hand so it fills the palm rather than sitting flat in it.
At 12 inches total length this sits between a large kitchen knife and a camp knife: useful for outdoor work and big enough to display well.
